Be Still is an album of hymn arrangements by Micah Gillespie. The world is in turmoil and chaos these days and yet God's people are commanded to "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth" (Psalm 46:10). The goal of this new SMS recording is to refocus the heart and mind of the listener on the character of Almighty God.

I grew up in Tipp City, Ohio, a small town just outside of Dayton. From an early age music has been a focal point of my life. Some of my earliest memories include singing specials in church with my family, singing in the church children’s choir, and fighting my 8 siblings for my time at the piano. My music teachers instilled in me a passion for music and a desire to use the talents I have been given for the Lord. As long as I can remember, I have always loved sitting at the piano and making things up. In my early teen years I realized I could use some of those cool ideas I came up with and put them with hymns I knew and loved from church. Quickly, I discovered I loved this thing my piano teacher called “arranging.” With the aid of my incredible piano teacher in high school, I continued to hone my skills at the piano so I could pursue a degree in music. I graduated from Maranatha Baptist University with a degree in Church Music and Piano Pedagogy. In my time at MBU, I had the opportunity to travel all around the country with different music groups. Through those different tours, I really began seeing the need for God honoring, excellent music in both the church setting, and in individual lives, and a burden to write and arrange that type of music began to take root in my heart. Over the last few years I have watched the Lord open doors of opportunity in my life, ultimately leading me to Southland Christian Ministries where that burden is becoming a reality. My prayer is that the Lord will continue to use me as a vessel for his glory and that the music I produce would be a blessing to the heart of each listener.
